In 2008 the agency I worked for relocated to an awesome little gem of a building on the beach front in Barcelona. We moved in at the start of summer and I noticed that there were a few characters (mostly men) who would stop by across the street almost every morning. They’d stand or sit where the promenade overlooked the sea to contemplate life while toking on a cigarette before work. I started taking pictures of them and made a deal with myself that I’d draw one person every day. It didn’t last very long but it was fun while it did. The later drawings are of friends and colleagues but the first few of are the morning lonelies.
